  • WHAT IS Kid's Festival?Kid’s Festival is the largest independent youth event in South East Europe: Since 2004, over 40,000 children from all over Bosnia & Herzegovina participate each year. The widespread program combines entertainment & education: workshops, booths, quizzes, games, movies, performances, dance acts, acrobat acts, mini circus… lots of fun and many things to learn! International performers, clowns, magicians, dancers, musicians are each year the highlights of the Festival. They provide diversity and a glimpse at the cultural richness of the World for thousands of children that have never travelled outside their country.
    Kid's Festival’s motto promotes the initiative of the Council of Europe “All different, all equal”.
  • OBJECTIVESConfidence building among the young generation in Bosnia; creating trust in B&H’s future in the European landscape; building of cross-entity networks, mutual understanding among the different ethnic groups;

  • WHEN End of the School year (8th – 12th June 2012) 8th June: KID’S PARADE The colorful KID’S PARADE through Sarajevo City Centre starting at the Sebilj (Baščaršija) opens the Festival.
    Schools, foreign artists, partners, friends, embassies, staff members, sponsors, community police officers participate. Adults and kids: just get your flags, national costumes, fancy dresses, instruments, fantasy outfits, costumes, masks, colorful hats, face paint … dress up for the Kids Parade! The best costume or outfit will be awarded.
    16:00 Kid’s Parade starts: Sebilj (Baščaršija) – BBI Centar – Zetra 18:30 Movie (special projection at Zetra)
  • 9th - 12th June: KID’S FESTIVAL IN ZETRA 14:00 beginning of workshops, exhibitions, entertainment, booths 17:00 beginning of DJ animation, Kid’s Cosmic Show 18:00 beginning of the film screenings (entrance to the movie hall from 16:30)
  • TICKETS - Box-office: at Zetra Entrance.
    - Price: 3KM (reservations for groups over 15 pers. only)
  • SPECIAL ACTION: paid tickets are valid for 1 free entrance at Termalna Rivijera Ilidža for Children up to 14 years, from 13th - 30th June.
    It is obligatory to bring your purchased Kid’s Festival ticket – gratis tickets are NOT VALID
  • PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR SECURITY REASONS ENTRY IS NOT PERMITTED BEFORE 14:00

the Kid's festival team met yesterday with the Minister of Family, Youth and Sport of the Republic of Srpska, Ms. Nada Tesanovic who announced a support of the Kid's festival and coordination of children groups, coming from Banja Luka and other towns of the RS. The busses for the transportation of the children to Sarajevo will be sponsored by the EU Police Mission. The EUPM supported the Kid's festival since the beginning and continued this task until the end of the EU Police Mission this June. Minister Nada Tesanovic proposed to include a bussing budget into next year's Ministry budget, when the EUPM...

DORIS PACK OPENED FORUM

Doris Pack, Chair of the European Parliament's Board for culture, education and youth. visited KIDS Festival as first honorary Ambassador. Ms Pack opened  the forum "Europe  for every child," which was attended by representatives of NGOs and partner organizations KIDS Festival: UNICEF, Handicap International, Save the Children Foundation Sumero, and  representatives of the European Movement in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Start of 8th KIDS Festival announced with KIDS parade

With colorful parade through the main streets of Sarajevo, the largest event for children and young people in South East Europe - 8 Kids Festival has been opened.  Parade was attended by clowns, international artists, magicians, dancers and musicians. Participants in the parade walked through to the Olympic Hall "Juan Antonio Samarach", where  all programs KIDS festival  will be held.  KIDS parade was also attended by the Mayor of Sarajevo, Alija Behmen. "I'm glad that kids come to Sarajevo, the capital, for which many do not even know, learn the values ​​and culture of the city. This festival is a real opportunity for children and will remain in their memories, " said Behmen.

Opening of the 8th Kid's Festival in the Center of Sarajevo: The colorful Kid’s Parade 09.06.2011

Kid’s festival 2011 takes place from June 10TH -14TH, starting with the Kid’s Parade through Sarajevo City centre, from the Cathedral to Zetra. All schools, foreign artists, partners, friends, embassies, staff members, sponsors, community police officers are invited to participate in the parade. Adults and kids: just get your flags, National Costumes, dresses, instruments, fantasy outfits, costumes, masks, colorful hats … dress up for the Kids Parade! The best costume or outfit will be awarded. Invite your Embassy staff, Excellencies, spouses, children and join the colorful parade on its way to Zetra. (Friday, June 10th, 2011, at 16:00).

Commander of NATO's Headquaters in Sarajevo general David Enyeart visited tosay headquaters of KIDS Festival in Olympic hall "Zetra" band handed a check of 6.000 Euros to director Susanne Prahl. It is continuation of support of NATO's Headquarters Sarajevo to the biggest children's event in BiH.

Every human life is filled with history of symbols.

Through Bosnian history, especially the medieval period, which has remained quite controversial and for which there are hundreds of interpretations, symbols can serve as a universal language to communicate with our past with the help of modern art.

In a way of painting them, we can grasp their power and the possibility of multiple creative expression that we should be open to reach.. Specially if we continue to explore in the specified field of art history, in Bosnia, trying to decode its philosophical directions, throughout history, using art as a genuine instrument of knowledge.

The best way to learn the secrets of the symbols is to follow the recommendations of Antic Greeks , "Know and meet yourself " - which is equivalent to learn the secret behind one of the greatest symbols: human beings, symbols of the immortal soul and symbol of the universe.

Marking the beginning of the 8th KID'S Festival, first press conference was held in the VIP lounge at the Olympic complex Zetra. Guest speakers at conference were the representatives of KID'S Festival partners. Michael Muller, director of Raiffeisen Bank, Florence Bauer /representative of UNICEF in Bosnia and Herzegovina/ Natalia Dianiska /Chief of the Department for Social Development of the EU Delegation in BiH/, General Bernhard Bair /commander of EUFOR in BIH/, Monja Koluder /EUPM spokesperson/ Anita Cosse /director of the Foundation, "Out of Area"/. All have unanimously agreed that KID'S Festival is a unique opportunity for children from the whole country to display their talents, develop a sense of understanding for other cultures and clearly express their wishes and needs to the decision makers.
