07. - 11. June 2013
Kid's festival 2012 has been elected “European Project of the Year” by the European Movement in B&H. A number of annual partners, local and international, have identified Kid's Festival as a major initiative with beneficiary effect on the society, reaching out to the entire population, not only Sarajevo, not only a privileged, intellectual, educated group of people interested in culture, art, movies or theatre, no: this pluri-disciplinary festival is a successful showcase that has created a unique phenomena in the world. Involving 40.000 children means involving 80.000 parents too, how many grand-parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors hear from Kid's Festival by the mouths of happy children? At least 10% of the 3.5 million population of B&H, which means after 10 years: Who in this country has NOT heard of Kid's Festival?
Thousands of children have to travel from the most remote places within the BiH borders to reach Sarajevo the Capital of Kid's Festival... While the children travel to the festival the crew is busy getting everything ready for their arrival. The morning hours are used to prepare the venue, technical checks, setting up the workshops in Zetra’s huge space, inside as well as outside. Make-up, warming up, rehearsals, installations, repair works… TheFestival’s doors opened every day at the officially at 14:00. This year’s edition went back to the 5 days formula: Kid’s Parade through Sarajevo for the Opening, followed by Kid's Festival 4 days of fully power activity. A longer lasting festival brings a loss of quality, this year: all activities took place until the last day. A new formula was to launched: one hour longer: this was fantastically received by the audience. Parents from Sarajevo who work, can still reach every day the film screening, no longer at 17h but at 18h.
Three highlights marked the 2009 edition and were developed and strengthened in 2010: The Kid’s Parade, which turned the entire city centre of Sarajevo into a boiling happy crowd, offering to both old & young a refreshing new happy experience. This was again the flashing highlight of this summer’s season in Sarajevo marking for all kids the beginning of a long deserved break from obligations and school… President Zeljko Komsic kept his promise and walked along with the Parade offering to all citizens a modern image of a true “President to touch”. The children in the Pediatric Clinic enjoyed the Kid's Festival every day, with many many clowns and performers that came to perform for them to make their lives happier for a few moments. The parents, clinic staff and doctors were very supportive and enjoyed the psychological backing for these children. Joy and hope most definitely help the healing process. ZOI 84 decided to take the opportunity of the last day of the Kids Festival to officially present the installation of the new NAME plate Juan Antonio Samaranch at the Olympic complex Zetra. The official change of name took place to honor Mr. Juan Antonio Samaranch – former President of the International Olympic Committee and grand friend of Sarajevo.

This year the festival significantly increased the participation of foreign performers: Magician, Jugglers, Clowns, Physical theatre & Mime, Caramba Samba orchestra, Bosnian Child Foundation, Balloon artists...
The third Kid’s Festival Bosnia took place in the Sport and Cultural Center of Skenderija, Sarajevo from the 9th to 15th June 2006. The program started daily at 13h00 - one hour prior to the official beginning due to the large amount of public present on location early. As in the previous years, Kidfestival offered a large variety of creative and educative workshops, entertainment and everything children love, but increased the amount of activities and happenings by 40%, so that the public was overwhelmed by the size, growth and diversity of this “Kid’s planet” within their country. Each day 25 activities were offered, some of them every day, others just a few days, while new ones were added. Taking into consideration that 50% of the children could attend several times or even every day, and others only once, the entire program of the festival was constructed around the 7 daily mottos shifting different children’s animations and themes, without changing the overall program frame. Every day had its special highlight. The main program with dance groups, pop stars, lottery games, the so called Kid’s party, was organized every day before the film screening at 17h00. Kid's festival’s huge multiethnic gathering attracted artists and performers from many countries. A bright image of BiH starts to spread beyond and within its borders.
The second Kid’s Festival took place in the Sport and Cultural Center of Skenderija, Sarajevo from the 10th to 16th June 2005. With more than 30.000 kids from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kidsfest became traditional festival.
